Marvelous East-West Cultural Tour

short trek to Taktsang Monastery (Popularly known as Tiger’s Nest). For the Bhutanese or Buddhist, it is a sacred pilgrimage site for the Buddhist World. The Taktsang monastery clings, on seemingly impossible sheer, vertical cliff at 9680ft. The steep uphill hike to Taktsang, takes 2-3 more hours to get to the view point. (Ponies are provided on request to ride up till the tea house). Again walk back down hill till the bus stop and drive to Drukgyal Dzong (the victory fortress) which is now in ruins. It is about 16 kms away from Paro town. On a clear day one can get a breath-taking view of Mt. Jhomolhari while you drive to Drukgyal Dzong 17 th century.

Western Bhutan Cultural Tour

This package includes visiting five culturally rich districts of Paro, Punakha, Wangdi, and Thimphu. Following is a brief description of the itinerary, however it should be noted that it’s not rigid and can be altered based on the interest and needs of the traveler.

West-Central Cultural Tour

This tour package is a duration of 7 days and will provide the opportunity to visit 3 western districts of Paro, Thimphu and Punakha and 2 Central districts of Trongsa and Bumthang. All tour packages offered by Mangalam are not fixed and can be altered as per the demands and interest of visitors.

Eastern Bhutan Cultural Tour by Air Travel

Eastern Bhutan remained unexplored by tourists, one of the major reasons being the long time required to reach there from Paro International Airport. However since the opening of the two National Airports of Bumthang ( Central ) and Yonphula (East ), there is an increasing number of tourist visiting the East. One can opt to fly to Bumthang and travel to the East or fly directly to Yonphula and visit the Eastern Regions. Mangalam offers the Eastern Bhutan Cultural Tour which provides an opportunity to expand the experience and see the rich culture and nature of Bhutan. Visitors can opt to travel by road or via flight. Incase by road, the itinerary will be similar to the Amazing West- East Tour and by if opting to fly to Yonphula Airport

Thimphu Tsechu

One of the biggest festivals in the country is the Thimphu Tshechu. This festival is held in the capital city for three days beginning on 10th day of the 8th month of lunar calendar. This Tshechu is witnessed by thousands of people many of which travel from neighboring Dzongkhags (districts) to attend the festivities. The actual Tshechu is preceded by days and nights of prayer and rituals to invoke the gods.

Punakha Tsechu and Durpchen

Punakha is located in the western part of Bhutan is the winter home of the Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot of Bhutan. Punakha has been of critical importance since the time of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 17th century.

Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal is known as the unifier of Bhutan as a nation state and he was the one who gave Bhutan and its people the distinct cultural identity that identified Bhutan from the rest of the world.
